The George White PTA is very proud to announce the addition of the YMCA Physical Education Program beginning February 19th for grades TK-5th.
George White Elementary School will partner with the YMCA to provide a structured PE program modeled after the Physical Education Content Standards for CA public Schools. Physical Education significantly contributes to student’s well-being. High quality physical education contributes to health, develops fundamental and advanced motor skills, improves students self-confidence, and provides opportunities for increased levels of physical fitness that are associated with high academic achievement. Some of these units will include: soccer, basketball, track & field, kickball, t-ball, capture the flag, bean bags & tennis ball activities, cooperative & movement games, and many, many more!
A giant thank you to the many parent volunteers, teachers, staff members and Mr. Klinkenberg, who continue to support our PTA. We are very proud to be able to say that George White Elementary School is one of the only schools in the area that will be offering a structured Physical Education Program!
This PE program is going to cost the PTA over $10,000 for the remainder of the year and is possible, only because of our successful fundraising efforts. We have four main sources of funding for programs like PE. Membership, Fall Fundraiser, Jog-a-thon, and our Year End Carnival.
To date, only 50% of the families at our school have become members of our PTA. Becoming a member doesn’t mean you have to come to all of the PTA meetings, nor does it mean you have to volunteer for all or any of our events. Please consider joining PTA, if you haven’t already. Membership costs only $15.00 and is completely tax deductible. Simply pick up a form in the office or click on "Become A Member" link above.
